Study Ranks Raleigh as the Third-Best U.S. Capital to Live In

Raleigh, NC – A new study has ranked Raleigh as the third-best capital city to live in across the United States, highlighting its strong economy, quality of life, and education system.

The study, released Monday by WalletHub, analyzed all 50 state capitals based on 48 key metrics, including affordability, economic well-being, education, healthcare, and overall quality of life.

Raleigh earned the third spot in overall livability, trailing only Austin, Texas, and Madison, Wisconsin. It was also ranked as the top capital city in the eastern U.S.

Among specific factors, the City of Oaks placed fourth in median household income (adjusted for cost of living), fifth in education and healthcare quality, and seventh in the percentage of adults holding a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Additional rankings placed Raleigh 10th in affordability, 11th in economic well-being, 12th in the percentage of millennial newcomers, 13th in K-12 school system quality, and 16th in overall quality of life.
