One Dead Following Early Morning House Fire in Raleigh, Officials Confirm

A person has died following a house fire in Raleigh early Monday morning, according to fire officials.

The fire broke out around 3:51 a.m. at an abandoned home on the 1000 block of Schaub Drive, near the intersection of Western Boulevard. The initial emergency call reported an outside fire, but upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy flames and upgraded it to a structure fire, the Raleigh Fire Department said.

Fire crews entered the building and, during a search of the property, discovered a victim inside. The individual was transported to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to their injuries, officials confirmed.

The blaze was brought under control within 45 minutes, and no additional injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
