Raleigh Authorities Boost Patrols at Lake Lynn Park Following Reported Sexual Assault

Raleigh police have ramped up patrols around Lake Lynn Park after a woman reported being inappropriately touched by a man while out for a run.

According to authorities, the woman was jogging near the lake on Tuesday night when the suspect approached and touched her without consent. Following an investigation, police arrested 18-year-old Jacarri Powell in connection with the incident.

The news has unsettled parkgoers, including one woman who frequently walks the trail.

“That’s why I had to come with my husband,” she told ABC11. “As a woman, you’re always aware of the parking lot, the apartments around here, and making sure you’re doing everything you can to stay safe.”

Powell was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 8.
